THE GOODNESS OF THE TZADDIK

"This service consists of the struggle against one’s evil nature with the aim of overpowering it, and banishing it from the “small city” i.e., the body, which is like a city whose conquest is the objective of both the good and the evil nature." [Tanya]

Banishing evil from the body and hence the soul, how to banish evil, how to think the thoughts of the tzaddik, how to think all good thoughts and never let evil thoughts into one's mind. A tzaddik teaching how to love, how to live, how not to give in to having evil intention.

Thinking a good thought, having true love on the tip of one's tongue like a drop of honey that reflects in all words. Words like righteousness, loving-kindness, milk, honey and manna, the quenching of one's thirst after a spicy meal, the quenching of the thirstiness of others, food aplenty for all to eat, a party where everyone is invited, no passwords needed for membership, a place where all are welcome and not interrogated before entrance.

Evil leaving the soul and goodness coming in with the air we breathe, clean air, clean thoughts, not vengeful, no hatred, no jealousies, not anything to covet, encouragement for the betterment of everyone, only the priests receiving more than the others, a place where everyone gets his needs met and then a little bit more so he is full and sated, in an easy position, in a place of sanctity.

Holiness in all places, on everyone's lips, holy kosher foods digesting in everyone's stomachs.

A place that is good, with people who are good, eating foods that are good, thinking thoughts that are good, using speech that is good, performing actions that are good.

"Good" being a state of mind that never leaves but that increases in quantity and quality at all future moments. A condition for which to strive.
